Frosty, the Snowman- Classic Christmas Song

Tuesday, October 30, 2007
Walter “Jack” Rollins and Steve Nelson wrote the song Frosty, the Snowman which was recorded by Gene Autry and Cass County boys in 1950. Like Jingle Bells , it became a timeless classic Christmas Song though it never mentions Christmas at all. It is a song about a Snowman Frosty who comes to life by a magical hat that the children put on him and after some playful adventures “hurry on his way.” I just found the original cartoon done on this song in the 1950's. I enjoyed it. Hope you will also like it. If you want to learn it, then you can check out the lyrics.

How to make a snowman

Monday, October 29, 2007
Beside the Christmas decorations indoors, one important part of the Christmas is making of the snowman, Frosty! Christmas time comes and if it's a white Christmas, the best part is children making snowmen outside their house. I remember how my mom used to make me take all the precautions before spending hours in the snow so that I won't get sick during the celebrations.

Here some tips for making the snowman :
* The best time to build a snowman is usually in the next warmest afternoon directly following a snowfall with a sufficient amount of snow.

* It is impossible to make a snowball by the powdered snow. To make the snowball the powdered snow has to be near its melting point and be compact. Start making small balls and get rolling.

* To keep the ball round vary the direction while rolling the ball. A traditional snowman has a base, center and head. Before stacking the snowballs, use your hands to level a flatter side on both the base snowball and the one that will rest on top. This way, the snowball is more likely to balance. After the snowball is balanced, you may secure it by packing around the seam with additional snow.

Learn more tips on the "décor" of the snowman and display your crafting skills to the whole neighborhood.

Santa MySpace Comments

Thursday, October 25, 2007
Think about Christmas and we can't miss Santa. Everyone in his or her childhood believed that it's the jolly good old Santa who brings bag full of presents and keeps it in the midnight in our socks. Whether in reality Santa existed or not never mattered to us. We were very sure that Santa and Mrs. Clause stayed in North Pole along with their in elves and reindeers.

A Christmas Carol

Wednesday, October 24, 2007
As I was surfing the net I found the song 'A Christmas Carol - Christmas Together' from the film A Christmas Carol based on the Charles Dickens' famous classic “A Christmas Carol". I was twelve years old when I first read it and I don't know how many times I have re-read it afterwards. If you haven't read it, then go and get the “most famous ghost story” ever written. You have surely missed a classic.

Christmas Bells

Tuesday, October 23, 2007
Jingle Bells, Jinlge Bells,
Jingle All the Way !....”

This timeless jingle still takes me to the memories of my childhood on Christmas holidays. How I loved to hear the tinkling of the bells on the Christmas Tree. I loved playing around with the ornaments and hanging them up and decorating them.
Bells are integral part of the Christmas decorations. The origin of ringing bells can be traced back to the Pagan Winter celebrations when the people believed that the sound of the bells scared the demons. Nowadays, it is unthinkable to decorate the Christmas tree without the bells ; some even hang a large bell on the walls of their home or even give them as gifts as part of the Christmas Celebrations.

Wreaths in Christmas

Tuesday, October 16, 2007
Think of the Christmas decorations and it is incomplete without the wreaths. Whether the wreath hangs before the door or adorn the wall of the house, they add more vibrancy and the feeling of Christmas. Wreaths are said to be symbols of life and mirth against the forces of winter. According to the history of wreaths , in ancient Rome decorative wreaths were used to signify victory. It is believed by many that the custom of putting wreaths on the door came from the ancient Roman tradition.

Missing you in Christmas

Friday, October 12, 2007
My friend Sandra's mood is off. She is not going to meet her parents this Christmas, as they are not coming from San Fransisco. And it's not possible for her to leave NY. Christmas is a time for reunion and I understand how bad one feels if he or she can't meet their near and dear ones. :(
